Seiling

Laerdal recently sponsored a boat in a local corporate yacht regatta and members of the product management team were able to take part. There were 9 of us in total. We spent a gorgeous afternoon sailing around the fjords near Stavanger, learning how to tack, jib and generally keep the boat upright. I was assigned to pull on a rope controlling the jib (they called it the fore sail I think!). If it sounds like I have no idea what I’m talking about, its because I don’t! There were 3 yachts involved in the actual race, which comprised of 3 small races, each lasting about half an hour. Of course we applied brilliant strategy and demonstrated razor sharp reflexes, which clearly paid off when we won the second race, but unfortunately we came a little unstuck and lost the other two. We missed out by one point on making it through to the next round. Bugger. Anyway, it was a gorgeous evening, Stavanger at its best! (note the trendy Helly Hansen jumpsuit and life jacket!).
